Jose's obituary
Jose Mariscal Jr was born in Los Angeles County to Jose Mariscal Sr. and Lucy Mariscal on July 31st 1979. He always loved to be a good friend. Jose aimed to be trustworthy and shower his friends with love. Even through his personal highs and lows, he still valued speaking to others about God and shared his knowledge of the word along the way. He made a new friend anywhere he went. No matter what season people were in in life, he loved listening to everyone’s life story. Jose always rooted and fought for the little guy. He definitely tried to be there for people when they needed additional support. On April 18th 2022, we tragically lost Jose Mariscal Jr to suicide.
Jose was an artist and his favorite art form was graffiti - it was his greatest passion. For those who knew him best, you knew how much he identified with graffiti and the world it represents. He was driven to create art pieces whether on walls or paper. We will forever be grateful for iron work, which provided another outlet for him to express his creativity. As a young teenager, Jose developed an interest in working alongside his beloved father. It was during this time he was introduced to iron work in North Hollywood, California. Iron work soon became another lifelong passion of Jose’s. For Jose, iron work was not “just a job”; it was art. From his adolescence until his last days, he proudly worked on his craft. Jose was a true perfectionist who was so thankful to find a second home in Mega Contracting Group. Jose will forever be admired for his talent, passion, and dedication to his crafts by those familiar with his work.
In 1997, Jose met Jenny at his childhood church. Jose and Jenny fell in love and wed the following year. They later prayed and anxiously awaited the arrival of their beautiful son, Jordan. Jose always aimed to achieve the best for his family. In reflecting on Jose’s life, we think back on some of Jose’s favorite activities. He loved camping, fishing, and most importantly beach time with his family. Jose’s family was stunned by this sudden loss. All who loved Jose are devastated by his death and will forever feel his absence. He was many things to different people - a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and a friend. To Jenny he was a soulmate and to Jordan he was Dad. He will be forever missed.
