Jose's obituary
Jose Guzman, “Joe”. Was born 8/25/1937 to first generation immigrants Manual and Jesse Guzman in Canoga Park, California. Joe was one of 10 children and was the youngest of the boys in his family. He attended Canoga Park High school where he successfully ran track, often medaling in cross-country. After high school he married and went to work. He was blessed with three children, Cheryl, Mark and Joanne. In 1974 he married a second time to the love of his life, Carol and was blessed again with another child, Mike. Joe was incredibly hard working, fiercely loyal, family loving, a tough pool player and arguably one the best golfer/ caddy El Caballero Country club has seen.
Joe managed a tile and marble company for 30 years working on many of the buildings in California and Nevada including the subways, casinos and The Staple center. He won many awards for his work and was a well know leader in his industry. As a “side job” Joe was a golf caddy for many years: not because he needed the work, but because he so loved the game. He knew the course so well he was sought after by many golfers and media/news stations, in hopes that Joe would share a secret or two or just the subtle lay of the course.
After retirement he joyfully relocated to Yreka, California to pursue his dream of escaping the hustle and bustle of Los Angles and enjoy the peace and quiet only a small town can bring. There, with his wife Carol, he forged an irrevocable bond with his niece Yvonne Amaral and her husband Terry.
Joe and Carol loved the lord. They found their way to Yreka Church of the Nazarene where they found everlasting fellowship.
After a short illness Joe died at home on Madrone Hospice 5/27/2023. Survived by; his sisters Aurora Rios and Mary Manchaca; children Mark Guzman, Mike Ferrigno and Joanne Guzman; niece Yvonne and husband Terry Amaral; grandchildren Cora, Daniel, Kaelan, Misti and Mike. Preceded in death by his wife Carol; daughter; Cheryl; son Manual; brothers Louie, Henry, Alfred, Fidel, Mike; sister Delores.
Those who walk uprightly enter into peace: they find rest as they lie in death.
