Jose Gomez Ledo Jr, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on July 22, 2023.
The son of Jose Gomez Sr and Celia Ledo, Jose Jr grew up in Havana, Cuba. He was born on December 18, 1944, and loved riding his horse along the beach. At the age of 17, he and his 15-year-old cousin, Pedro Ledo, came to this country in search of a better life, free of communism.
At the age of 22, Jose enlisted in the United States Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Specialist 5 in 1969. As part of this service, he was a military police officer who guarded and ensured the safety of bases including the DMZ zone in South Korea.
Jose Gomez Ledo Jr is survived by his wife of 51 years Maria Gomez, his sons, Jose R. Gomez and Joshua Gomez, his cousins Pedro Ledo and Dalia Llagostera, and his grandchildren, Alexander, Gabriel, Leilah, and Sebastian. His loved ones remember him as a loving and endearing grandfather, Papa as the kids called him.
A service honoring the life of Jose Gomez Ledo Jr. will be held at STAR Mortuary, 900 Nevada Hwy, Boulder City, NV 89005. The viewing will be at the mortuary from 11 am to 1 pm. A procession to the Veterans Memorial Cemetary will be directly after, in which chapel and funeral services will begin promptly at 1:20 pm. Afterward, the family invites attendees to Jose's celebration of life at The Yellowstone Clubhouse, 10175 Quarterhorse Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89178.
