Joscelynne's obituary

Joscelynne Marie Pannone tragically lost her life on Wednesday May 28th, 2025.  Joscelynne was born on January 4th, 2004 to Kelly Bernat and Erik Pannone.

Joscelynne was an intelligent and driven young woman pursuing a career in emergency medicine. She graduated from North Point High School, completing the Academy of Health Professions Program and earning her CNA. At age 15, she began volunteering at Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire and EMS Co 7 where her passion for emergency medicine grew.  Subsequently, Joscelynne joined Charles County Dive Rescue, Waldorf EMS Station 3 and Waldorf Volunteer Fire Company Station 3, where she was an active member. Through her volunteer work in Charles County, Joscelynne earned her EMS and Firefighter certifications. After high school, Joscelynne went on to complete her Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification at the College of Southern Maryland. Following CSM, Joscelynne continued her education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, studying Emergency Health Services and Disaster Management.  She was employed as a Paramedic at Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company as well as working with the UMBC Police department. Joscelynne’s passion in caring for others was truly remarkable.

Beyond her accolades, Joscelynne was a ray of sunshine that lifted the hearts of all that she was around. She enjoyed being outdoors; sitting out in the rain, sleeping under the stars or hiking in the woods. She enjoyed rocking out to 3 Days Grace or soaking in the lyrics of Morgan Wallen. She salsa and line danced with friends at Cancun Cantina. She read voraciously anywhere she could, whether it was under a blanket illuminated by her phone on a long car ride or on the porch of her Grandma and Poppop’s farm listening to all the animals. She let loose playing with dogs, cats, donkeys, chickens and would have loved to have had a highland cow (some may say she was obsessed!). Joscelynne ferociously pursued all life had to offer and anyone that knew her has forever been enriched.  She is a soul too bright to survive through just one single person, her contributions to this world will continue on through her selfless acts of service to her community.

Joscelynne expressed the desire to be donated to medical research should anything ever happen.  Her family has fulfilled those wishes as she has gone to the Howard University College of Medicine to help medical students learn to save lives, just as she did as a paramedic.

Joscelynne is survived by her mother, Kelly Bernat (John Bernat) and her father Erik Pannone (Jennifer Dyson), all of which she had all the best parts of. She is also survived by her sisters Kaydence Pannone and Cambrie Bernat and brothers Trenton Pannone and Hunter Dyson. Joscelynne has a large extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as an abundance of friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, June 1st at 1:00 pm at Waldorf Volunteer Fire Station 3 located at 3245 Old Washington Road, Waldorf MD.  In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations be provided to the family as they will be making a donation in  her name to the Charles W. Riley Firefighter, Ambulance and Rescue Squad Member Scholarship Program to support the education of future paramedics and firefighters.
