Jonathan's obituary
Jonathan David Wood was born on June 10th, 1979 in Harrison, Arkansas. He grew up in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, where he attended and was baptized at First Southern Baptist Church on April 10th, 1988. He attended Lafayette Elementary, Floyd Central High School and Graceland Christian School where, as a starter for the basketball team, he eagerly offered advice to referees when “needed.” He met his wife Shonda in the summer of 1999 while they were both working at Charleston Outreach Ministry. He has resided in Alabama 18 years where he has been a father, served in the United States National Guard, a communications graduate of UAB, and an award-winning salesman. Many were blessed by his talents as an announcer, singer, karaoke lover, and sports enthusiast. He grew up cheering on the Hoosiers, but grew to love the Crimson Tide.
He passed away at 3:33 p.m. on May 18th, 2022 in Youngstown, Ohio after injuries sustained from a car accident. As an organ donor, his gift allowed lives to be changed.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years Shonda Wood, and 5 children: Andrew (20), Luke (17), Benjamin (16), Nathan (14) and Sarah Kate (12); his parents David and Gail Wood of Little Rock, Arkansas; siblings Leslie Como (Chris) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Karen Black (Aaron) and Kelly McGaha (Corey) of Little Rock, Arkansas and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love and will miss him.
