Jonathan's obituary

Jonathan Patrick Mierau, 35, of Portage, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 17, 2020 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit after a brief illness.

Jon was born on June 16, 1985 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Lindsey and Susan (Woods) Mierau. He was the older brother to Luke Mierau. Jon graduated from Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Michigan in 2004. In 2012, Jon married his best friend and the love of his life, Jamie Reichow. He went on to get his Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Western Michigan University. Jon used his education and exceptional people skills in the Hospitality and Service Industry. Most recently he held a management position with Kay Jewelers in Portage, where he brought joy to many people’s lives celebrating their love. Jon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing golf and enjoyed watching sports. He was a true Chicago sports fan, as he passionately cheered on the Bulls, Bears, Cubs and Blackhawks!

Jon is survived by his Wife, Parents and Brother, along with his Mother and Father-In-Law James and Leslie Reichow, and Sisters and Brother-In-Laws, Sara and Luke Terry and Stephanie and Sam Guidie. One of his true joys in his adult life were his three nephews, Hank Terry and James and Sammy Guidie. He was also surrounded by love from many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

A celebration of life will be held for Jon in the coming months when we are all able to laugh, share stories and love for him. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to donate can do so to the Jonathan P. Mierau Memorial Fund.
