Jonathan “Jon” Wade Matthews was born on April 30, 1974, in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 48 years. Jon was raised and educated in Henryetta and graduated with the Henryetta High School Class of 1992. He then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree as a Fire Protection Engineer with Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Jon spent his entire 23 year career working in his dream job as a Fire Protection Engineering Manager. As a manager, he spent 16 of those years with Hilti (home-based in Tulsa, OK at the time), and then advanced his position and career to Specified Technologies Inc. (STI) for the remaining 7 years of his life. During his spare time, Jon enjoyed a variety of past times and extracurricular activities such as boating with friends and family on Grand Lake with his favorite pontoon boat, going to beautiful vacation spots in Mexico with his wife, woodworking in his shop (aka: the garage), taking on various remodeling projects around the house, fishing on the weekends with Uncle Phil, and on occasion cooking up some of his mean chili. Jon was married on April 16, 2016, in Cancun, Mexico to Melissa Diane (Emerson) Matthews. Jon is survived by his loving wife Melissa and two sons, Brody and Cooper.

A memorial service is scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 10:30am at Central Baptist Church in Owasso, OK with Pastor Rick Emerson as the officiant.
