Jonathan's obituary

Jonathan "Jonny" Systrom was born on August 26, 2001 in Menlo Park, California. He was born to his loving parents, Kevin and Jennifer Systrom. Jonny had two siblings, and older brother Roscoe Systrom, and a younger sister Ana Systrom. All three of the children grew up in Menlo Park. Jonny, as a child, was very introverted. He often kept to himself while playing with his toys. Jonny had an interest in music as a child. He was often found clicking away at the Fischer-Price toy xylophone that his father and mother gifted him on his third birthday. Despite his calmness as a child, Jonny also was a fierce competitor when playing sports. He would always be challenging the other boys in the neighborhood to games of basketball, as this was his favorite sport.

Jonny began his schooling at Oak Knoll elementary in 2006. He then attended Hillview Middle school in 2012. For high school, he attended Menlo-Atherton High School from 2015-2019. He graduated in May 2019 at the top of his class. Jonny then furthered his education at Stanford University. He excitedly studied Psychology while also pursuing high academic achievement at Stanford. Jonny was an outstanding force in the community. He devoted countless hours to volunteer at his local church, elementary school, and elderly home. Jonny received various outstanding citizenship growing up.

One thing that could be seen in Jonny was his love for basketball. This was his favorite sport. Whenever he had free time he was dribbling a ball and shooting jump-shots. Jonny also had a passion for listening to music. He was always branching out and listening to new genres and sounds everyday. He had a broad music taste, listening to anything from punk rock, to Hip-Hop. Although he did keep to himself, Jonny loved his friends. He was loyal to his closest friends, Richard Schrienk and Louis Rich. He always stuck with his buddies since they met in first grade.
