Jon's obituary

Jon Nelson, 73, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on December 24, 2021 after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Jon was born on October 25. 1948 to Ethel and Gunner Nelson in Iowa.

Jon loved sports and was chosen to go to Iowa State finals for wrestling when he was in high school. When he was a child he would play baseball with his family which always turned out to be a hilarious adventure.

He would walk many miles to attend a sporting event.

He was in the army for two tours. He was sent to Korea and to Vietnam. He was a Sargent when he was discharged.

He lived and worked on the family farm with the rest of his siblings so he was no stranger to hard work.

He loved fishing and hunting, bowling, and golf. Jon's favorite pastime was going on long walks.

He went to Grand Mound Elementary and later on went to Central Community High School where he graduated high school.

In 1991, Jon met Paula, and they wed in 1992 and moved to Conroe, Texas.  During their marriage they traveled and saw the Caribbean, Mexico, and Spain.

Together they renovated a house that became their home and sanctuary.

He spent his time traveling the country doing sales creating a company called Stickit Stickers selling stickers to the tourist and record industries.

He was preceded in death by both parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.  He is survived by Dorothy ( Robert) Potter from Davenport, Mary Nelson from Dubuque Iowa, Ed (MaryEllen) from Brooklyn NY, and Lori (Ken) Kenniker from Ft Myers, Florida.

Jon was a sweet, gentle soul with an incredible sense of humor. Very humble and always thinking of others. He had the softest blue eyes that were full of kindness. Heaven gained another angel today.

Jon will be dearly missed and always remembered.
