Jolene's obituary
Jolene K. Zimmer-Feuerborn was born on January 20, 1940, in Hartley, Iowa to Joe and Viola (nee Otto) Fahlenkamp. She passed away on November 17, 2022, at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Jolene grew up in Hartley, Iowa with her parents and two younger brothers, Terry and Lonnie, on a 160-acre farm. Her passions at a young age were cooking, baton twirling and the marching band.
She attended Iowa State University and went on to begin a career in textiles, retail sales and distribution. After meeting her first husband, Leonard Zimmer, they moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana and subsequently Arlington Heights, Illinois where they raised their two children, Melanie and Stephen. After the passing of Len, later in life, Jolene met Kenneth Feuerborn. They married and enjoyed their time together traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Jolene was very active in her community – devoting time to Northwest Circle of Friends. She was an avid bridge player, having a quiet, yet very competitive demeanor during her weekly games with her longtime friends. She enjoyed crafting and was also an entrepreneur; running a business for many years with a close friend.
Jolene was very personable, engaging and maintained a large social network of friends. She will always be known for her loyalty, attention to detail, strive for perfection, and support for friends and family, as well as her unwavering strength and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Leonard P. Zimmer and Kenneth J. Feuerborn and her daughter Melanie L. Zimmer.
She is survived by her son, Stephen (Jennifer) Zimmer and grandchildren Jack and Sadie Zimmer; and Kaylee Feuerborn. She is also survived by her brother Terry Fahlenkamp; stepchildren Anne, John (Jody) and Rebecca; in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.
