Johnny's obituary

"A true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart."

We are saddened and comforted to remember the life of Johnny Pabon, a man who lived vibrantly and unapologetically. Born on June 25, 1963, in Chicago, Johnny's life was a beacon of curiosity, wit, and humor up until his passing on April 2, 2026. His quirky, sardonic charm and his unwavering loyalty made him a cherished presence in the lives of those he held dear.

Beneath his “Johnster Monster” scowl, Johnny's charismatic personality drew people from all walks of life. His jest and sarcastic humor were balanced by his loyalty, love, and intelligence. He was a lover of classic rock, a sci-fi savant, a vocabulary impresario, and a comic book scholar before it was mainstream. His love for the fantastical world originates from his belief that imagination is the door to infinite possibilities. His passions were rivalled only by the love he held for his family. He is survived by his brother, Ray and sisters Mildred and Marybell, his two grandchildren Sofia and Vivian and treasured daughters, Vanessa Pabon and Natalie Ciezak who were among his greatest accomplishments.

Remarkable notable achievement was Johnny's dedicated service in the United States Air Force as an APR Equipment Specialist, the eyes of the electronic radar station, in Ramstein, Germany. His contribution was one characterized by diligence, courage, commitment, and integrity. His military career, coupled with the love for his daughters, served as testament to Johnny's admirable ethic and boundless love. His service to his country and to others was even shown through his final wish and gift, being an organ donor and supporting three recipients in his final hours.

Johnny was a beacon of authenticity, always encouraging others to live unapologetically. To him, embracing oneself and one's journey brought the ultimate prosperity. This lesson, among many, will serve as his lasting legacy, reminding us all to “live long and prosper” – just as Johnny strived to do but sadly was taken too soon. This father, uncle, brother, friend, soldier, and superhero, has now donned his cape in the afterlife.

This is what a childhood friend of Vanessa’s had to say about Johnny...

"How do I say goodbye to someone who made such an impact on my youth? Who I loved so dearly. Who was part of my tribe and helped shape me. Who loved me unconditionally and accepted me with open arms. Who was one of the coolest dudes I will ever know. Johnny Pabon. A man who loved his family with everything he had. Was a great friend to my mother and helped support us in times of need. Who was a great father figure to my brothers and I when there was no father present in our lives. He was the one that stood up for all of us and took charge like the great man he was. He was the real deal. A stand-up man who loved deep and made others aware of his presence. Strong, ethical, bold, fierce, kind, loving, caring, gentle, firm, fun, and a great storyteller! I loved him so much!"

As we mourn the loss of Johnny, we also celebrate his vibrant life, his impactful lessons, and his unforgettable charm. His legacy and spirit shall continue to live on through the lives he touched and the memories we hold dearly. In his final moments, he was surrounded by his children, brother and sister-in-law and family friends. His infectious laughter and witty anecdotes will forever echo in our minds, making us feel his lively presence even in his absence. Rest in peace, Johnny Pabon, you will forever be missed and always be remembered.
