Johnnie Daniel Woods was born on August 9, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Marguerite Lanford and William Hayward Daniel Woods. His father passed away when Johnnie was still a boy, on November 15, 1957, an early loss that shaped his life.
He passed away on September 6, 2025, in Asheville, North Carolina, at the age of 77.
