Good day to all, I hope this message finds every well. My family and I are in need of donations for our loved one, my uncle, who was killed on July 5, 2023 by a hit and run accident in Portsmouth, Virginia. They tried to revive him, but he was pronounced deceased at Norfolk General Hospital. My Uncle did not have insurance, not married, and no children, our family of four (who can help), are in need of ANY assistance. We have reached out to the city of Portsmouth, Virginia who advised there are NO burial/funeral FUNDS for Medicaid recipients, and that they could not help; I have even emailed the Governor of Virginia, to no avail. I am not sure where to start, or even how the donation procedures work, but what we do know is that we would like to have a proper home-going for my Uncle. I am hoping the individual who took his life and did not think twice about him laying in the street, has SOME type of compassion to realize what they've done, and the hurt they've caused.
