Johnetta's obituary
In Loving Memory of Johnetta Linda Jones
Johnetta Linda Jones passed away peacefully at her home in Aurora, CO, on February 22, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born on August 22, 1950, in Queens, NY, to Ernestine and Johnny Jones.
Johnetta’s life was marked by strength, courage, and unwavering faith. Though her passing was sudden, her journey was anything but brief—she lived with intention, resilience, and a deep love for those around her.
A gifted painter, Johnetta used her art to bring her family together, especially after the loss of her only daughter. She spent over 20 years as an award-winning Avon representative, building lasting connections within her community.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist community in Houston, Texas, she found solace and belonging in a congregation that reminded her of her upbringing at Saint Matthew’s AME Church.
Beyond her work and faith, Johnetta had a sharp mind and a quick wit that made her unforgettable. A formidable bid whist and spades player, she never shied away from a challenge and was known for keeping the table lively with her humor and competitive spirit.
She is lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Jalā Beautiful Jones and Faheem Joshua Yona Jones-Browning, and her precious great-grandson, Bouteus Victor II. She also leaves behind her devoted sisters—Doris Gardenhire, Brenda Lazier, Marilyn Foster, and Zenola Butler—as well as a host of cherished family and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Johnetta now returns to her Lord and Savior, reunited with her beloved daughter, Tracey Jones; her brother, Claude Jones, and his wife, Meritan Foxsworth Jones; and her parents, Ernestine and Johnny Jones.
