Sorry to read of Jack's passing. Jack was a great companion. I spent days on end playing stick ball and stoop ball with Jack in the Woodside Housing Projects, Queens, NY a lifetime ago.
“You can take the boy out of New York, but you can’t take New York out of the boy”
Jack is long time friend and airline colleague. I always enjoyed getting his impromptu telephone calls, sometime from far away places in the world. He liked to share his thoughts and opinions about all aspects of the air air cargo business, even if you didn’t agree with him. He was a sincere, honest and no-nonsense person in all aspect of his relations with other people, including me.
I am saddened by his loss and offer my condolence to his family.
To the Zembeck family, You are in our thoughts and prayers as you observe Jack's 80th birthday today. He will always have a warm and special place in our hearts for the caring person he is remembered for. Brother-in-law Jack, we love you. Blessings, Kathie and Jim
Dale Anderson I worked for Jack starting in 1978 at Frontier Airlines DEN, this turned into a 42 year friendship with mentoring benefits. We spoke often always about family and the industry, he was a stand-up guy from the Golden Age of air travel, both are gone now. Rest In Peace my friend
Jack never met a stranger and so enjoyed our conversations over the years - most notably and Emily and Nate's wedding. Thank you Jack for being you and for your laugh, smile and fond memories. Melanie & Ed Westergaard
I met Jack in 1986 when I started dating his oldest daughter Kristin. I’ll never forget the first time I went to the Zembeck’s house in Bedford, Texas. It was quite a surprise to meet Jack and learn that he was from the Brooklyn NY. I remember our first conversations - he would say something and all I ( being from a tiny town in north Texas and thus not having a lot of experience with the accent of someone from Brooklyn) could do half the time was to stare at him and wonder what he was saying. I noticed that he seemed to be doing the same thing when I spoke to him. At that time I thought that there was not much chance that Jack would think that I was the right person for his daughter and therefore Kristin and I probably wouldn’t last. Kristin and I just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary and in those years I was very fortunate to get to know Jack very well. I’ve never met a person more dedicated to his family. Jack would always look for reasons to visit and support Kristin and I and his grand children. Whether it was musical performances, sports or academic activities Jack would be there beaming with pride and cheering more than anyone. He would do anything for anyone if he thought it would make them smile. He always wanted to take our children on trips, and the trips (to amusement parks and other places) were some of the most special times in his and our children’s lives. When I was moving into our home in Colorado, Jack was dying to help. It was not a job that fit him well as it was mostly heavy lifting. When we were finished moving in, I came to appreciate that Jack’s tremendous enthusiasm for supporting Kristin and I was the real reason for him wanting to be involved in the move. (see picture). There will never be another Jack Zembeck. We love you with all our hearts Grandpa. Rest In Peace.
