John Dana Woodbury, 65, passed away March 28, 2024, in Sarasota, FL, surrounded by family. John was born in Portland, ME on April 18, 1958, to Dana L. Woodbury and Eleanor Nickerson Woodbury. John attended South Portland Schools.

John founded two construction companies, Northeast Rebar and Maine Rebar Services. His expertise was in reinforcement steel installation, and he constructed numerous buildings and bridges throughout New England for over 40 years. He possessed an incredible work ethic with an abundance of knowledge managing large work crews with meticulous attention to detail of blue-print requirements.

John enjoyed family gatherings, motorcycling, camping, boating, fishing, gardening with the greenest of thumbs, and had an incredible love of live music, especially Kid Rock. He was an avid New England Sports fan and had a passion for history and mathematics.

He is survived by his wife Ernestine Woodbury, daughter Jessica Woodbury of Portland, ME, daughter Sara Hegarty, and husband Sean of Windham, ME, daughter Kasandra Woodbury of Sarasota, FL and son Justin Woodbury of Sarasota, FL. Brothers Richard Woodbury of Leeds, ME, Peter Woodbury, and wife Tammy of Gorham, ME, and Sister Barbara Woodbury Marzelli of Derry, NH. Grandsons, Julian Ryan, Kai Woodbury, Quinn & Wesley Hegarty, as well as an aunt, uncle, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held at Fort Williams State Park, during the summer of 2024.
