John's obituary
John Noble White, Jr, a long-time resident of Loyalton, California, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Born August 12, 1930, John was the eldest of two sons to John Noble White, Sr and Ruth Virgin White in Monroe, Louisiana. Upon graduating from high school, he attended the University of New Mexico until being drafted into the US Army. He served two years during the Korean War and returned home in 1952 after being wounded in combat. He continued his studies at Pasadena Community College where he met and married Sue Ellen Burns of Fairmont, WVa on June 26, 1955. Once married, they returned to New Mexico to complete his bachelor’s degree.
Upon graduation, they returned to California to begin his teaching career in Needles, CA where their oldest child, Carol Ann was born. John continued his own education, obtaining his master’s degree in Education Administration at the University of Southern California. A year later, their second child, Richard Lee was born in Escondido, Ca. He also held teaching positions in the cities of Pomona and San Dimas, CA as well.
John’s career in education continued, becoming the elementary principle of two schools in Turlock, Ca. This was followed by being selected as the Elementary & Jr High Principal in Loyalton, Ca in 1972. While at Loyalton, he initiated numerous programs and policies focusing on the needs of local students and parents. After spending his life dedicated to helping students achieve their highest potential, he retired from education in 1992.
Throughout his life, John’s passion revolved around family, education, nature, and woodworking. He devoted himself to each of these, striving to enjoy each to the utmost. Whether it was backpacking in the Sierras, or designing/building beautiful wooden creations, it was his family around which he felt most centered. Although he wrestled with unanswerable questions throughout his life, the foundation of these things was his belief and faith in God. He believed Jesus Christ as his savior and was an active member of The Baptist Community Church in Loyalton for many years.
John was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife Sue Ellen. Since his death, his younger brother, Herbert White also passed away. John is survived by his daughter, Carol Bell and husband Danny of Fredericksburg, TX; his son Richard White and wife Vickie of Winter Garden, FL.
