John was one of the first people I met at USMAPS in August 1980. We were in C company together and I always remember his totally cool sense of humor and ability to make a stressful day look easy. I will never forget his gift for leading others and putting them first.

Wheeler Family - We love you!
So many fun memories of John! When he came to my birthday party with Helen and Uncle Jack, beach week the year I cut my face from jumping in to the sand bar and he and Ken helped treat my wound! His gift of hospitality, can I get the car door, you need a drink, always thinking of others and sharing a song and quick one liner to make you laugh!
I had the pleasure of looking through grandma Alice’s photos and each time I held one of John and family I lifted you in prayer. Blessed to see family in PA at Grandmas celebration of Life. Look forward to seeing you on the 23rd to celebrate John’s life!
Love Kara and Family :)

John was the best classmate! I fondly remember studying with him in the evenings in the hallways of our Company at West Point. He dad a great sense of humor discipline & academic ability.
He was a loyal classmate. who supported the Long Gray Line as a civilian as well. I am saddened at his untimely passing. but I'm amazed with the many things he accomplished in such a short time.

John was such a great neighbor. I’ll never forget him walking laps around the neighborhood, for what seemed to be hours at a time, and waving each time he passed by. He always had a smile on his face. Helen, my deepest condolences go out to you. You’re in our prayers!

My sincere condolences to Helen, the kids and the rest of John’s family. I worked with John and got to know him as he was a part of my work family. He had a great sense of humor and was just a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. He was loved by all who met him and he will be missed. He loved to take care of the soldiers and was instrumental in making sure they received the proper training. May he Rest In Peace and you are all in my prayers.

Prayers go to John's family. I graduated from USMAPS and USMA with John and was also a fellow Floridian. I always enjoyed being around him, and he was VERY helpful to me getting used to the military at USMAPs. I don't remember him every being worked up or upset about anything. RIP, John.
