John's obituary
John was born on December 4, 1961 at Toronto General Hospital where his father was a Jr intern at the time. He spent time as toddler in Sully Village, Wales (where his father was studying medicine), adolescent years in Markland Woods and early adult years in Nobleton. John graduated from York University with a Bachelor in English and from Humber College as a Registered Nurse. He had decided to become a nurse to honor his great aunt Winnie who was an inspiration to him. He worked as a children’s rehabilitation nurse and then as a psych nurse with his Sister Elizabeth for many years until he retired due to illness.
John had an ear for music and he loved to sing. He sang in many church choirs throughout Toronto and Caledon. He was a self-taught pianist (playing many of The Beatles greatest hits). John also had a love for cars and fixing up old “hot-rods”. John enjoyed spending time with Eva at their cottage in Minden, Ontario where he found his love of photography and would take pictures of the sunset, lake and trees. He had an amazing eye for photography, snapping pictures of cityscapes and nature throughout the GTA and at the cottage.
Memorial open house will be held on Sunday November 17, 2019 (2pm-5pm) at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium (737 Dundas St E, Mississauga, ON). Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Registered Nurses’ Foundation of Ontario:
