John Edward Vincent Wahmhoff, born on September 16, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2024, in Champaign, Illinois. John was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Rosemary Wahmhoff and was one of seven siblings.
John graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio, and went on to earn a degree in biology from Brescia University in Kentucky in 1979, where he was known for his remarkable intelligence and academic prowess. It was in Kentucky that John met the love of his life, Teresa Rene Reece, in 1989. They married in 1991 and shared an extraordinary 33-year journey filled with love, adventure, and devotion.
Throughout their marriage, John and Teresa moved over 19 times, experiencing life in various places before eventually settling in Champaign, Illinois. There, John became a devoted member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church community, attending Mass regularly.
John dedicated an impressive 36 years of his career to Orkin Pest Control, where he climbed the ranks through his unwavering commitment and hard work. His colleagues remember him as a dependable and knowledgeable professional who always went above and beyond.
John had a passion for many things in life. He was an avid fan of John Wayne movies and the Clint Eastwood classic "Josey Wales." He enjoyed bowling, and sports, and had a particular love for baseball, even trying out for the Detroit Tigers. John found great joy in traveling and hiking with his beloved wife, Teresa. As a proud holder of a National Park Card, he cherished the natural beauty of America's parks and relished the adventures they brought.
John will be deeply missed for his dry, straightforward sense of humor and his boundless generosity. His legacy of kindness and wit will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
John is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Wahmhoff. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Teresa, his brother Joe (Joanne) Wahmhoff, and his sisters Joselyn (Richard) Harley, Karen (John) Chmielowicz, Sharen (Terence) Wojtowicz, and Margaret (John) Orzechowski.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in John's honor, continuing his legacy of giving and compassion.
