John's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Towler on February 6, 2026, in Laurel, Maryland.
John Wesley Towler was born on July 14, 1985, in Washington, DC, to Janice Towler and James “Jay” Henry Towler Jr. He grew up in Maryland and attended Laurel High School, where he discovered a talent for writing poetry.
John’s life was centered around his home and family. He poured his energy into supporting his loved ones and building a warm, welcoming home. His greatest joy was the care and support he gave to his family. He took pride in supporting the people closest to him, including his partner (Lena) and (Danielle), the child they raised together. John valued preparing meals, helping with schoolwork, and being part of daily routines. He was also a loyal sports fan, faithful to the Dallas Cowboys football team, and remained passionate about basketball, baseball, and other sports.
John cherished spending time with his siblings, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins—often playing video games while creating lasting memories together. He found joy in cooking home-cooked meals; some of his favorites included chicken alfredo and steak. He proudly called himself “Man Can Cook.” John enjoyed taking vacations, especially family cruises, and treasured visits to his aunts, uncle, and cousins in California. One of his favorite daily traditions was going with his father, Jay, each morning to feed the foxes. John was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
John leaves to cherish his memory a loving circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at The People’s Community Baptist Church, 31 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, Maryland.
