Tommy's obituary

In Loving Memory of John Thomas Wilson, Jr. (Tommy)

John Thomas Wilson, Jr., affectionately known as Tommy, brought a unique light to this world with his birth on July 7, 1987. On August 22, 2023, the world grew darker as we said our final goodbyes to a beloved son, brother, and friend. Tommy's journey was marked by both the joy he brought to those around him and the struggles he faced in his battle with mental health.

Born to Brenda Lee Wellington of Battle Creek, Michigan, and John Thomas Wilson Sr. of Jackson, Mississippi, Tommy's life was intertwined with the threads of two distinct places. He carried within him the spirit of adventure and resilience from both his Michigan and Mississippi roots.

Tommy's life was punctuated by his relationships with those closest to him. He leaves behind cherished memories that his siblings, Ricky Bell of Brandon, MS, and John Paul Blakeley, also of Brandon, MS, hold dear. Through the highs and lows, Tommy's family remained a source of unwavering love and support. His memory will forever live on in their hearts.

Tommy's struggle with mental health was a battle he faced with courage and determination. Despite the challenges he encountered, he remained a beloved son and brother, his strength and resilience an inspiration to all who knew him. Tragically, on August 22, 2023, Tommy's pain became too much to bear, and he chose to end his own suffering.

As we reflect on Tommy's life, let us remember the moments of laughter, the bonds that were forged, and the love that surrounded him. His struggles do not define him, but rather serve as a reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding in the face of mental health challenges.

In this time of grief, let us come together to celebrate Tommy's life and remember the person he was beyond his struggles. His memory will forever remind us to reach out to those around us, to offer a hand in times of need, and to cherish the moments of joy we share with our loved ones.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Tommy on 8/31/23 at Sebrell Funerall Home in Ridgeland, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to https://everloved.com/ in Tommy's name, to continue the fight against mental health challenges.

Tommy's light may have dimmed, but the impact he made on those around him will continue to shine brightly. May he find the peace that eluded him in life, and may his memory be a guiding star for all who loved him.
