John was a loving husband, father, pops, brother and friend. He was born to the late Leonard Banks Barber and Constance Clark on November 24, 1955. After graduating from East Carolina University, he returned home to Hendersonville, NC and married Katherine Ann Stepp. John enjoyed a successful career in Real Estate and construction. Together, they had 2 children: Bradford and Mallory. John and Katherine moved to North Augusta, SC in 2014 to be closer to their precious grandsons.

John loved his church family at Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed shooting clays with his friends and going on camping trips to the lake. He was an avid outdoorsman and Eagle Scout.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Barber Coppedge. Left to cherish John’s memory is his wife of 43 years, Katherine; their children Bradford Barber and Mallory Perry and husband David; a brother, Robert Barber and wife Robin; step mother Elizabeth Barber Girard; grandchildren, Greyson and Luke Perry; and nephews Kent Barber, Clark Barber, Peter Coppedge and his cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC.
