It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John C. Schoeninger, 50, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, who died peacefully at home on July 4. Born on July 25, 1973, in Philadelphia, PA, John was the beloved son of Skip and Ann Schoeninger of West Hartford, Connecticut. John is also survived by his wife Debbie, stepchildren Jesse and Brittany Chen; his sister Susan Kohn, her husband, Chip, and his niece and nephew, Meredith and Trip Norton of West Hartford. 

John grew up in West Hartford and graduated from Hall High School and Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. John loved being a special education teacher, and he was a die-hard Eagles fan who lived for football season. He enjoyed countless hours on the golf course as an avid golfer. His family and many friends will deeply miss his sweet nature, quick wit, and infectious laugh.

A reception celebrating John’s life will be held for family and friends on July 19 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Rockledge Grille in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unified Theater Program at Hall High School.
