John's obituary

John L. Schick was born September 1948, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Paul and Anne Schick as one of nine siblings. From a young age, he developed a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. His love for camping, boating, and picnics was evident in the countless family memories created under the open sky. Whether it was a serene weekend visiting parks or an exciting day on the water, John's enthusiasm and zest for life were contagious.

After graduating from Lancaster Catholic High School, John served his country aboard the USCGC Androscoggin in Vietnam, followed by a career in the telecommunications industry.  He opened his company, Comlink International, and spent many years fostering business relationships that quickly turned into lifelong family friends.

John was the in-demand chef of his family’s breakfast. His waffles were legendary, bringing joy and comfort to his family and friends. Mornings filled with the aroma of freshly made waffles became a cherished Sunday tradition, and his secret recipe will forever remain a precious treasure.

One of John's most endearing qualities was his love for music. He could often be found singing and dancing along whenever there was music, filling the air with his rich voice and harmonizing as if a member of the band. His presence in car rides and family gatherings will be sorely missed, but the sounds of him shushing those around as a good part of the song came up will be forever etched in our hearts.

John volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, was honored for his milestones as a blood donor, and was a supporter of St. Vincent De Paul. Throughout his life, John's faith was a steadfast guiding light. He was a devoted member of his church, finding solace and strength in his spiritual connection. His unwavering belief and compassion touched the lives of many, providing comfort, encouragement, and support to those in need.

He leaves behind his wife Kathy; two children from his first marriage, Suzanne and Brenda; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; four brothers; many nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his first wife Jan; parents Paul and Anne; sister and three brothers. John's passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but his legacy will endure through the lives he touched. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his adventurous spirit, his delectable waffles, his melodious voice, and his unwavering faith. His love and influence will continue to guide and inspire all those who were fortunate to have known him.

In place of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, a cause close to our family’s heart.
