With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mr. John Thomas, a loving and devoted father, brother, and a friend to all whose lives he touched, on January 19, 2025. Born on August 11, 1962, John lived a full, rewarding life before his peaceful departure.

John is survived by his son, Cameren Thomas, and his daughter, Haley Thomas. He leaves behind his son-in-law, Merle Piers, and treasured grandsons, Jason Jolley and Merle Piers III. John is also survived by his siblings, Gary Thomas, Steven Thomas, Hershel Thomas, Wiletta Thomas-Coleman, and Linda Thomas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lorraine Thomas, and his beloved son, John Taylor Thomas.

A lifelong learner, John graduated from Mount Vernon, OH high school in 1980 and embarked on a successful career in fiber optics in 1982. Throughout his life, John was a pillar of his community, generously donating his blood to Bio Life.

John's life was marked by his adventurers' spirit. He moved to Missouri in 2009, Fort Myers, FL in 2015, and finally settled in Warsaw, MO in 2018. An attendee of River Church, John was a kind soul with a love for his community.

An energetic and loving figure, John was known for his unique personality that combined goofiness with a willingness to always assist others. His lessons of authenticity and treating others like family continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His greatest pride and accomplishment was his family, and his legacy of always helping others will live on in their hearts.

John loved a good pot roast, savored ice-cold Pepsi, and delighted in the music of AC/DC, The Beatles, and Poison. He was a fan of TV shows such as Hardcore Pawn and Pawn Stars, and films like Good Fellas and Casino. A passionate sports fan, John supported the Yankees, Browns, and Buckeyes. His favorite games included golf and baseball, and he always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Wishing to extend his joyful energy, John liked to swim and looked forward to trips to the beach. He had a fondness for the colors black and blue, and his love for life was infectious.

His passing leaves a void in many lives. John Thomas will be sincerely missed.
