With heavy hearts, we share the passing of John Wayne Platt, Sr., who was born in Marianna, Florida on November 21, 1945, and passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 80.

John and his beloved wife, Elizabeth, made Austin their home in 1989, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki, and his son, John Jr.

John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his daughter, Victoria (Cory) of Austin; his stepdaughters, Terri (Steve) of Austin and Chris (Bobby) of Ingleside; his grandchildren, Kaleigh, Ashleigh (Dalton), Nataleigh, Sydney (Jim), Andrew, Aria, Avery, and Austin; and his great-grandchildren, Abigail, Carson, Aubreigh, Melody, and Wyatt.

John loved to build things, but his greatest love was his family. He was a wonderful storyteller who could always make people smile. He cherished simple moments—dyeing Easter eggs, carving pumpkins, and cooking breakfast for those he loved. He was a great listener and a trusted source of advice, always ready to offer support, wisdom, and encouragement.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. While we mourn the loss of an incredible man, we are grateful for the life he lived and the love he shared. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion to family that will never be forgotten.
