John's obituary
John Raymond Pfeifer, 72 of West Valley City, UT passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 16th 2025.
Born in Culdesac, ID on July 12th 1953 to the late John and Joetta (Leachman) Pfeifer. John graduated from Culdesac high school in 1971 and served in the United States Army from 1973-1976 where he was stationed in Germany and travelled throughout Europe. John met the love of his life Debby at Alpine Tire in Spokane, Washington in 1985 where they both worked. John and Debby were married for over 37 years from November 20th, 1987 until his passing. John, Debby and their 3 daughters lived in Spokane, WA, Troy, MT and Butte, MT before settling in Salt Lake City, UT in 1995 where John worked as a field service mechanic for many years and retired from Waste Management in July of 2021.
John was known to many for his kind heart, selflessness, work ethic and devotion and love for his family. John loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing in Idaho, Washington, Montana and Utah. John loved animals and had many family pets throughout the years and enjoyed spending his free time with his family. John also loved holidays and particularly enjoyed decorating for Halloween and Christmas.
John is survived and deeply missed by his wife Debby Pfeifer of West Valley City UT, his 3 daughters, Erica Hoover (Todd) of West Valley City, UT, Michele Pfeifer (Frank) of West Valley City, UT and Jennifer Pfeifer Llewellyn (Tim) of Somerset, KY, son Chuck Pfeifer (Esther) of Wasilla, AK, sister Jackie Kiehn Easton (Scott) of Newport, WA, 5 grandchildren, Sam, Brody, Damien, Cody and Charlie, 2 great grandchildren along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
John is proceeded in death by his parents and his older brother, Buddy Pfeifer.
A Celebration of Life will be held for John in Lewiston, ID in the spring of 2026 and his ashes will be spread by his family on the Yaak River in Kootenai National Forrest in northwestern Montana.
