It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Joseph Peregoy. Born on November 5, 1954, John lived a vibrant, full life until his passing on April 14, 2024.
John's effervescent spirit touched everyone who knew him. Outgoing, friendly and fun-loving, he was never one to shy away from a risk if it meant bringing joy to others or helping those in need. His supportive nature went hand in hand with his kindness and wisdom, and his contemplative, spiritual outlook on life allowed him a unique connection with both people and the world around him.
John's legacy of kindness and love will long be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him. The lessons he shared, most notably his call to love one another, still resonate and will continue to do so in the hearts of those who loved him.
His professional accomplishments were numerous, each one a testament to his tenacious spirit and desire to make a difference. As a recipient of a Ph.D. from Syracuse University, a member of American Indian Psychologists, professor, researcher and a volunteer for the American Red Cross, John dedicated his life to both academia and service, contributing positively to the communities he was part of.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Julie Schliebner, and will be deeply missed by a multitude of family, friends, animals, and earth spirits. His bond with the world was deeply spiritual, a connection that remained steadfast throughout his life.

It is a testament to his unwavering dedication to service and his enduring spirit that we choose to honor him in this way.
