John's obituary

John William Moore Sr. passed away unexpectedly at the age of 76 on May 7, 2025, at 1:49 AM. He was a resident of Alexander City, Alabama. John is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Pilman Moore; his daughter, Shannon Michelle Lowe; his daughter, Elizabeth Noel Reyes, spouse of Rigoberto Reyes Raymundo; his son, John William Moore Jr.; and his son, Bryan Lee Moore. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Cain Evan Pressley, Brandon Scott Donald, Trinity Rose Moore, Kaden Rigoberto Reyes, Austin Christopher Reyes, and Emily Isabella Reyes, as well as his great-grandson, Genesis Alexander Donald.
John was immensely proud of his family. They were his world, and he loved spending time with each one of them. He was proud of his daughter Shannon for being a supportive and loving mother and daughter. He was proud of his daughter Elizabeth for being a loving wife and mother and for how hard she works. He was proud of his son Johnny for working hard at all that was put in front of him and helping them out whenever he could, and he was proud of his son Bryan for being a strong, caring, and loving father and son.
John was immensely proud of his service to his country. He began his military career by enlisting on September 1, 1968, to serve in Vietnam, where he held the rank of Sergeant. He joined the Army on August 16, 1977, serving in Korea from 1975 to 1977, where he held the rank of Staff Sergeant. His final military branch was the Army National Guard, where he served from July 2, 1991, to February 19, 1997, serving in Desert Storm, where he held the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Throughout his military career, John received numerous awards, including: Medal of Good Conduct Airforce, Airforce Commendation Medal, Vietnam Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle M-16A1, Expert Hand Grenade, Army Service Ribbon, Southeast Asia Service medal, Bronze Service Star 1, National Defense Service medal 2nd Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Airforce Outstanding unit award, Air Force Commendation Medal, Marksmanship Badge Riffle M-16, Driver and Mechanic Badge Driver with Bar, Aircraft Crewman Badge.
John's hobbies included collecting military memorabilia, coins, and gems; drawing, painting, woodworking, and spending time with his beloved family, whom he cherished deeply. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and is truly missed. Known for his kindness, John never met a stranger and would readily give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He had great love for his dogs, Sarg, Butter, and Jake, as well as a bird named TikTok, which he raised from a hatchling.
