John Warren May was born November 21, 1940, to Nadine and Charles “Bud” May in Los Angeles. Growing up he enjoyed going to Lake Arrowhead, CA, water skiing, and going to the beach. He completed high school and shortly after served in the Army. He met his first wife Judy in San Francisco, and they had 5 children but divorced later. In 1971, they moved to Rockford, Illinois. John lived there and worked for the post office for over two decades before retiring and moving back to Southern California.

In his thirties, he developed a strong faith in God which was a relationship he developed over the rest of his life. He was active in street ministry and later went on to pursue a Divinity program. In 2007, he married his life’s love, Terrie, with whom he was wed until God called him home. At the leading of the Lord, John and Terrie moved to Branson MO where they enjoyed being part of a large Christian community and had many friends. In addition to his love of God and Terrie, he was a fan of Southern California sports teams, chocolate, and a good dad joke. He was full of love and laughter. John died from sudden cardiac illness.

He is survived by his wife Terrie, his daughters Robin May-Davis (Scott Davis) and Heather May, sons Scott May and Charles May, stepchildren Heather VanGinkle (Jeff) and Jason Lenarth, grandchildren Warren Davis, Athena, LJ, and Peyton VanGinkle and nieces Lisa May-Cassaro and Karen Kitchens and nephew Brian May (Rebecca) along with a loving church community. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry May (Jackie) and his daughter Sara May.
