Jack's obituary

John “Jack” Campion Makuch, 72, passed away on March 9, 2024, in Des Plaines, IL after a long illness.

Born on March 16, 1951, in Middletown, CT, Jack earned his B.A. from St. Michaels College, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Vermont College. Jack loved spending time with his two daughters, writing novels, painting, and enjoying the company of longtime friends from Church Street in Northbrook, Illinois. Jack had a great sense of humor, creating the “fun committee” at Allstate Insurance in Northbrook, where he worked as a marketing communications manager. He is loved for and will be remembered by many for his wonderfully kind, funny, and gentle-mannered soul. He is survived by his daughters Flynn and Grace Makuch, former spouse Karen Nystrom, and sister Linda Alden. Jack was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Makuch (née Tillbrook), father John Makuch, and beloved dog Lucky. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
