John's obituary
John William Lillie, born November 19, 1939, in Vermont, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024, in Texas.
A proud U.S. Army Veteran, John served his country with honor and dedication. His strong sense of duty and commitment to service reflected the example set by his parents, both World War II U.S. Army Veterans — Thelma Mae (Bennett) Bomhower (1923–2009) and Grenville Cameron Lillie (1916–1967).
In 1961, John married Elaine LaBounty Lillie, and together they welcomed two children, Mark and Erica. A rancher at heart, John always surrounded himself with cattle, horses, and other farm animals. He was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, business sense, steadfast love, quiet strength, and sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Erica, and three grandchildren — Prosper, Serene, and Skye Lillie. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark (1961–2013) and his granddaughter, Krystin Sue Lillie Curschmann (1991–2018).
John's life was defined by service, resilience, and love for farming. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
