I just now found out about this. So sorry to hear this. My Dad (Robert Herrera) is sending his condolences.

John and I grew up together, we both pushed each other to do our best at whatever we did some of that included Rodeo, Baseball, wrestling, and school. John was a great friend and I am sorry I had lost touch with him over the years .
RIP my friend!

Sorry for your loss. He will be missed. I worked at Mesa county with him and he alway stood on his merits.

Some of John's favorite things that I remember from the 80's.
Hill Street Blues and dinner with the Huston’s every week.
Pool time and ‘burgers in the face’ at Carol’s with a side of Asteroids and sky-dive baby.
Hunting trips with Doug and Duane at Brush Creek, or later at Grand Mesa and Pinon Mesa with Jim.
Bow hunting practice in the driveway at home.
Saturday nights at the ‘old’ jail and the endless entertainment in the sally-port.
Recreational softball with Beefy.
Building houses and doing remodels with Merv. (And jumping on the trampoline at Pixler’s.)
Rodeo club, roping and a few bull rides at Glen Younger’s arena.
Shooting at the Go-For-It competitions
A dog named Poncho and a dog named Wojohowitz.
A horse named Chancy.
