John's obituary
John Robert Kruger
May 17, 1952 – November 24, 2025
John Robert Kruger, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home in Mission, Texas, on November 24, 2025, at the age of 73.
John began his career as a skilled painter with Swanson and Youngdale, where he worked as a Contractor and Journeyman until 1994. Much of his time there was spent at Cool Creek Station in Washburn, North Dakota. When he returned home with the Boom Truck, neighborhood children knew they were in for a treat. In 1994, John retired from Swanson and Youngdale and launched his own business, JR Painting. Known for his perfectionist touch and craftsmanship, his work was admired by all who knew him.
Beyond his profession, John was a storyteller, caretaker, and neighbor who always looked out for others. His humor and gift for embellishment brought laughter to countless gatherings, and his quirky traditions—paired with his creative love for food—will remain cherished memories.
John married Patricia Neilan in 1970, and together they had two daughters, Celeste Ann (Philip) and Tara Kay (Boonie). In 2000, he met and married Annamarie Lardy, the love of his life. Shortly thereafter, their son Robert John was born. With Anne, John found a deep bond that softened his once‑rough exterior, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. You could always see John at many sporting events for his son Robby, cheering him on with pride and enthusiasm.
He was a proud grandfather to Brady Arthur Brodehl (November 23, 1993 – April 30, 2019) and Dr. Jordyn Noelle Becker (born September 3, 1998).
John is also survived by his brothers Grant (Nancy), Kent (Nancy), Kurt (Danielle), and his sister Stacey. Along with his many loved cousins and friends, all of whom were deeply cherished, John’s presence will be remembered for the joy, laughter, and care he brought into their lives.
John’s legacy lives on in the stories he told, the laughter he inspired, and the care he gave to family, friends, and neighbors alike. He will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his humor, and his unwavering love for those closest to him.
