To the family of Mike Keeling:
I know this is long after Mike's death, but I just found his obituary. I want to share that Mike and I were friends at Paducah Tilghman High School and were in the PTHS choir together. We don't carry many names of classmates through life, and even though I lost touch with Mike, he was someone I continued to fondly remember. Mike was a terrific guy and I am humbled to read about his Amazon mission involvement. Focus on the good memories of Mike and know that we'll all get together in celebration in Heaven. God bless. Michael Ramage, Tallahassee, Florida.
Mike was a great friend and wonderful loving person. I met Mike professionally at first, but we instantly hit it off and became very close friends. Sometimes life puts people in your path because they make you better and your life brighter, Mike was that person. Us meeting was the definition of serendipity. He had been tasked to come to my place of business by the company that he was working for, as my company had signed with his company to provide a service for us. We found out in the first couple of days after meeting that he and I went to the same A&P school and had the same instructor. This happened because Mike, being who he was, told me a joke. I instantly recognized that joke as being one that my A&P instructor, Charlie Wasserman, had told all of his classes. My response to the first line of the joke was “do you know Charlie Wasserman?” And that was it. We found out that while I was working in Millville NJ for Airwork Corporation, he worked directly on the other side of the fence from Airwork at the same time. Both he and I had worked for Charlie on the weekends helping with Annual Inspections on small aircraft. In the weeks that followed and his visits to my company, I invited him to stay with Susan and me. He spent many days with me and my wife and stayed with us many times. Mike always had a kind word. Interestingly enough we had a lot in common although that might surprise some. He would tell you that we were cut from the same cloth although the part he was cut from was stronger and steadier than mine. I always looked forward to seeing him and talking to him as was had that connection that was obvious when we got together but was difficult to explain. We never talked without ending our conversations with “I love you brother” and if together always parted with a hug. I miss him dearly and know that sometimes life gives us few chances at relationships with special people. I know that if he could talk to me now he would tell me to use his passing as a lesson to focus on what is important in this life we have and to remember how lucky we are to have it. Love you and miss you Mike.
