John's obituary

John A. Janmey of Hinckley, OH passed too soon from this world on March 14th. He was born March 29, 1957 to Jean (Minor) and Albert Janmey in Cleveland, OH.

John is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Dray); children Lindsay Barton (Patrick), and Julie; sister Janet Roth; three grandchildren, John "Brooks", Grant and Blake Barton; and dog-son TobyMac. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Kabasan, and his dog-daughter, Chanel.

John grew up in North Olmstead where he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and dual sport athlete at North Olmstead High School. He was inducted into the NOHS Athletic Hall of Fame for Track & Field and Football in 2018. He held the high jump record for many years. John graduated from THE Ohio State University with his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture & Food Sciences and began a long, successful career as a Produce Broker - friends and family referring to him affectionately as the "Fruit Man."

John had many passions in his life - his marriage, career, role as a Dad & Grandpa, golf game, Ohio and Cleveland sports fandom, and especially his event planning and hosting skills. He was the life of every party and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family and friends: hosting his annual Golf Outing or Christmas Eve party, celebrating a Buckeye win, pre-cruise parties, mourning a Browns loss, or just another day being alive. You could catch him weekly at his favorite local restaurants, Muchos Buenos or Fosters Tavern, sitting on his patio, or tending to his massive vegetable garden. Everyone was always welcome and celebrated at a John Janmey event.

John and his family were members of Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church where they have fond memories of faith and friendship. Service will be held Sunday March 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at Royal Redeemer with refreshments immediately following until 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donations to the Appendix Cancer PMP Research Foundation (ACPMP) in John's name.
