Jack's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Edward Patrick Jacobs, known to us fondly as Jack. Born on April 11, 1952 in New York City, he was a beacon of light and love until his tragic passing on February 17, 2024. Jack was a cherished member of the community and his absence leaves a void that will never be filled.

Jack was predeceased by his father, Joseph Jacobs, his mother, Evelyn Caulder Jacobs, and his cherished sister, Geraldine Fowler. Despite the losses he faced, Jack remained unwavering in his faith, embodied by his deep involvement in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Jack had a unique ability to bring laughter and light into every room, leaving a lasting impression of charisma and charm on all who had the opportunity to know him.

In addition to his vivacious personality, Jack was also known for his accomplished career and profound wisdom. Not only did he earn a doctorate in Theology, but he also had the honor of performing at President Reagan's inauguration. His fondest passions outside his work were spending time with friends and family, devoting himself to community initiatives and events, and indulging in a good book. Jack's love for music was another defining aspect of his life, particularly the melodies of John Denver and John Prine.

He is survived by his loving spouse Matthew Hall, who is courageously battling for his life after a devastating house fire, his brother-in-law Raymond Fowler, his sister-in-law Laura Hall-Knapp, and his dear nieces and nephews; Mary Barony (Steve), Rebecca Bowen (Ronnie), Joseph Elliott (Sheila), and Jeffrey Elliott, as well as countless great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. He was a pillar of strength and warmth to his family and wider community. He often emphasized that through Christ, all things are possible, and to love others even in the most difficult of times. Jack's legacy is one of strength, fortitude, kindness and above all else, love.

We remember Jack not only for his accomplishments but also for his spirit. He demonstrated to us that family is more than just blood, and his lessons and values will continue to guide us. Jack lived his life with unparalleled grace and tenacity and leaves behind a legacy that will inspire generations. As we mourn his passing, his life remains a testament to the enduring power of love and faith. Jack will be deeply missed by many and forever remembered.
