In lieu of flowers

Background

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we request donations be made in his name to one of the three organizations below.

Webb Institute is John’s Alma Mater and provides 100% scholarships to all students thanks to a robust endowment and support from its alumni. John graduated in 1968 and maintained monthly communications with his classmates 54 years later.

One of John’s primary hobbies was participating in the Houston chapter of the Power Squadron where he was an active member of 24 years. He served in many roles, most recently as the Assistant Secretary, Roster Chair, and instructor of the navigation classes.

KPFT is a community radio station in Houston. John was an avid listener of their programs and previously requested donations to the station for his Christmas and birthday gifts.
