If you have ever been called "Sunshine", "Smiley" or "Champ" you probably knew John.  John Ira George was born on May 7th, 1946, in Pennsylvania along with his three sisters.  After serving in Vietnam as a young man, John settled in Miami, Florida along with his wife of 50 years, Mary Colleen (Russell) George.  They have built a beautiful life and legacy through their three adult children, Chris, Heather and Shawn, two daughter-in-laws, Dawn and Cara, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, not including all the others who referred to him as "Poppa John".  John was fiercely dedicated to his family and that legacy continues as a result of the example he set.  John was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and entered heaven as a result of his faith in Jesus' death and resurrection on April 27th, 2023.  To know John was to love and be loved by him.
