John F. Monetta of Roanoke Virginia born on January 14th, 1952 in Hicksville New York passed away peacefully at his home on September 17th 2021 at the age of 69.
John enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1970, where he served on the Dallas and was then stationed in Philadelphia PA as Captain of Port Authority in (capt) in Port security as a Pollution Control Specialist after his military service . John had a distinguished career as a Marine Risk Engineer Professional working and traveling worldwide for the following Ina Marine, Cigna, Ace Group and the Zurich Insurance Group some of John's notable career achievements included a 3-year refinery construction project in Saudi Arabia expertise in Marine loss prevention and supply chain security and as a sought after, Marine Cargo Transportation lecturer on the subject of various Marine insurance related conferences. He served on the Board of Directors for Transportation Access Protection Association (TAPA America's) and Vice Chairman National Cargo Security Council (NCSC.).
John was passionate about his family and friends. A generous supporter of Animal Rights Organizations and active member of Notre Dame Blue and Gold Irish football club. He loved a good political debate.
John is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Loretta Monetta, birth mother Vivian and brothers William and Frank Monetta.
He is survived by his son Jeffrey Monetta and his ex-wife of 45 years Deborah Monetta of Ocala Florida, his brother Christopher (Karen) Monetta of Wilmington, NC, his sister Mary Alexander (Gene) of Fort Smith Arkansas along with many many cousins.
John was a devoted loyal friend to many and will be missed by his family . his friends and by his beloved dog Snickers who is now living with his sister Mary.
Traditional Funeral Services were never wanted by John he would prefer in lieu of flowers give to your local animal shelter that was his passion his love he hated to see animals in need that's what he would want you to do any shelter your choice...
John had a kind heart a loving soul he loved completely.....he is in our hearts forever.....
