John Roger Ely (aka Ben Pierce), age 76 of El Paso, TX passed away peacefully in his sleep and with his wife and daughter by his side on Monday January 14, 2019.

John was born December 4, 1942 to Jack & Juanita Ely in Denver, CO but the Elys relocated to Amarillo, TX where John grew up. After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1961 he went on to have many careers including realtor, salesman, telemarketer and delivery man. But most notable, and what he dedicated the last 26 years of his life was to fundraising for a children's home in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. In 1985 John and Maria were wed and John stepped into the role of father to Diana.

John is preceded in death by parents Jack & Juanita Ely and close cousin John David Sewell. He is survived by wife Maria, daughter Diana (Yirot) and granddaughter Gabriela.
