John's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of John Durbano, a beacon of love and laughter, who left us on January 27, 2025, just shy of his 76th birthday. Born on January 31, 1949, John lived a life characterized by deep devotion to his family, God, an unwavering love for music, Golf and a tenacious spirit that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
In the wake of his departure, John leaves behind his beloved wife Rebecca Baseheart, his son Nick Durbano Jr, granddaughters Logan and Reagan Durbano, daughter-in-law Suzanne Durbano, Aunt Amelia Cantisano, and step-son Ray Crocker. He now reunites with his late mother, Dorine Jordan, father, Nick Durbano Sr, and brother, Steve Durbano.
John's legacy of love, joy, and resilience is a strong testament of a life well-lived, leaving a void that will never be filled. He will be dearly missed by alI. In 1989, John made a significant journey from Canada to Jacksonville, Florida, a move that coincidentally took place in the same year that the city experienced a rare snowfall. He played an instrumental role in introducing the city of Jacksonville to hockey with the Jacksonville Bullets, as part of the Sunshine Hockey League. This contribution will forever be remembered. The memory of his radiant smile and warm heart will forever remain in our hearts.
John was a man afforded comfort by familiar melodies of Country music. He didn't just enjoy listening to the music he would engage in grabbing a mic and singing along. John also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen honing in on his culinary skills with his beloved wife Rebecca. He enjoyed the thrill of watching his favorite teams, The Florida Gators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Buffalo Bills, engage in the heat of competition. On Sunday mornings he reveled in the tranquility of playing golf with his Son Nick.
A memorial service celebrating John's life will take place at 9:00 AM on March 24, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Mission. In remembrance of John's zest for life, attendees are encouraged to wear bright colors, mirroring the vibrancy he brought into this world.
John's energy, compassion, and love for life will be deeply missed. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved, and those who loved him.
You have sorrow now, but i will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. John16:22
