Andy's obituary

Andy Dewett passed away on April 26th 2021 at age 50. He was born on August 24, 1970 to Samuel and Margie Dewett in North Carolina. He is survived by his wife Jenessa, six children, Alexa Danko (Adam), Aiden (Evan Worthington), Anson, Addisen, Aiva, and Alivia, his two grandsons Kannon Dewett-Wortington and Miller Danko, and his father Samuel Dewett and his brother Martin Dewett.

Andy moved around a lot being a product of a military family before settling in Aurora, Colorado. While attending Aurora Central High School he met the love of his life, Jenessa, who attended Gateway High School. He went on to play baseball at Metropolitan State University where he set multiple baseball records that stand to this day. Andy graduated from Metro with his teaching degree and later went on to earn his ABD through University of Phoenix. He started his career in education in Peyton, Colorado. From there he moved to Aurora Public Schools before settling into his accomplished career in the Cherry Creek School District. Andy was one of the original teachers at Grandview High School. His duties included teaching, coaching, dean, athletic director, assistant principal. Truly a renaissance man. Andy then went on to become an assistant principal at Cherokee Trail High School. Through these leadership roles Andy touched so many lives.

Andy always displayed respect, love, and honesty to everyone he ever met. He was not able to go anywhere in public without being recognized by a former student, classmate, teammate, or friend. He offered help to whomever needed it and his reach extends further than many of us will ever know. He was a world class coach, player, educator and trash talker. His sense of humor was infectious and when you saw his grin, you couldn't help but match it. He was an amazing husband and an incredible father. He passed down his work ethic, integrity, and ingenuity to each of his kids. The cloud that hung over him the last few months could not cast a shadow on the incredible life he had and shared with others. Andy was a role model, mentor, and inspiration to every single soul he met.
