I am heartbroken to hear about Andy! My prayers and hugs to Jenessa and all of the children! Andy was a good friend and a trusted colleague. He would do anything for me and for others! He had a heart of gold and was always the one person I could count on in good times and bad. Rest In Peace, my good friend!
Andy was truly a light in this world! He was always smiling and could bust out some old R&B moves like nobody I’ve ever known. He was the life of every party and damn could he BBQ! Most importantly he was a constantly generous man... with his students, his friends, and his family. Andy you will be forever missed but your light will live on in all those you have inspired and impacted.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

I can’t express enough the sorrow that everybody is feeling from the loss of an amazing father husband grandfather and friend . I am very blessed to have known Andy he was such a happy go lucky man. He loves his family so very much! You couldn’t help but smile when you see Andy face to face his grin larger than life! My heart goes out to all the Dweitt family, I am so very very sorry for your loss that you are going through at this time.My son Adam Danko met Andy’s daughter Alexa in high school and they became high school sweethearts. And what a beautiful heart every Dewitt family members has. My heart is truly broken for the family and all the loved ones left behind! I am so very blessed that my son Adam is Alexa‘s husband and the mother of my first grandson Miller Andrew Danko! They are such great great parents and that’s because Alexa is such and amazing mother, and Adam a great father! I know Andy played such a big role in his children’s lives.I will always remember just how much joy he could bring to a room. And how blessed I feel to have known him and for him to be the pappy of Miller. He gave so much to so many people . Not only his family but the entire community as well. They are all such an amazing family. Opposite of Adams family , Andy and Janessa have one boy and five girls. where as Adam had four brothers and one sister. It’s like a mirrored image! If you ever had the opportunity to spend any time with Andy at all you knew instantly what a great man he was. I believe Alexa you’re such a great mother because of such wonderful parents Andy and Janessa. And your entire loving family. My heart goes out to you all! It is such a terrible loss to everyone that Andy is no longer with us😢 He was a true Leader and we all loved Andy... all our lives have been changed just being able to be a part of his life. I’m sure it’s easy to know how much he adored his wife Janessa, and his six children! He was a great role model So very loving and kind. The Danko family is blessed to be a part of Andy’s life, as well as the rest of the Dewitt family.. Hanging out in the man cave garage with Andy and his family and friends. playing darts laughing, dancing, and singing! He brought such joy to everyone around him!I can truly say from my heart he was a magnificent man and he will be sadly missed! The Danko family loved him Very much. And Miller had the best pappy in the world. Andy loved with his whole heart! Coach Dewett - You will be so missed. Thanks for making me a better player and for leading us to a league championship. You taught me so much. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Dewett family.
Andy and Jenessa used to come into Old Chicago quite frequently probably 5 years ago. It was always the best time when they both were around. We still have your steins :) I will never forget the kindness that radiated from Andy. Jenessa and all of your beautiful kids and grand babies, my heart goes out to you! Praying for you all.
So very sorry for this incredible loss. My deepest condolences to the entire Dewett family.
It is very difficult to find the words to express how truly heartbroken I am over Andy’s death. He always had a smile and had a great laugh. He made an impact on so many people and will be missed.
I first came to know Andy in my early years of teaching at Grandview. A few years after I migrated to Cherokee Trail, so too did he. I alway appreciated the camaraderie of knowing we were both CT by way of GHS.
Andy always met me with a warm smile and a kind heart. He alway spoke so fondly of his family, and I always loved and respected that. Over time, I would also get to know his wonderful daughter, Alexa. As a student teacher —and then teacher —in the CT English Department, she was hardworking and thoughtful in her practices—a daughter any father would be proud of. I remember having a conversation with Andy about Alexa’s son Miller. We both marveled at the miracle and wonder of parenthood—even the hard parts.
Andy was a good man. I’m still in a tremendous amount of denial that he is no longer with us. I will miss him.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Dewett family. I got to know Andy during my time at Cherokee Trail HS as he was my evaluator and oversaw the math department. He was a great support person, mentor, and most importantly, a great human being. Anytime I saw him in the hallways he would always give me a smile and either ask how everything is going or ask about baseball. He will be missed!
Thoughts and prayers go out to Andy’s family. Cherish the memories..
Damn Meat, I am heart broken. You made more of an impact on my life than I ever got to tell you. You were exactly what we all needed in a coach and a friend.
My heart goes out to the entire Dewett family and all of the people who were blessed to know Andy. When Andy first came to Cherokee Trail several years ago I vividly remember his amazing spirit and his infectious smile. Andy went on to oversee the math dept and I am so thankful that I got to know him over the years and always felt supported & valued as an educator and person.
I also remember sitting around Andy's fire pit one evening and laughing simply because Andy was so fun to be around. I miss you my friend.
My heart goes out to the entire Dewett family. Having taught all of the Dewett kids, I know that Andy was a wonderful role model for his kids. So sorry for your loss.
I am devastated by the untimely passing of sweet Andy. I’ve known Andy since he played for the Rams with my son Aaron. He always had a smile and a hug but was fiercely competitive. He and Aaron played together at Aurora Central and then at Metro and I always loved talking to his parents. Jenessa was so lovely to know and even though we lost touch over the years I have always
felt close to them. Let me know if I can be of service to the family and I am sending love, prayers and light at this very dark time. ❤️🙏🏻😪
I first remember meeting Andy when I was around 15. He made my cousin Jenessa light up when he would walk into a room and vice versa. I always got to see the smiles and laughter they would bring back to Iowa. He was a pleasure to be around and visit with. He had a way of making you feel happy just being around him.
Sending all my love and prayers to his entire family. ❤️🙏
My heart is with the entire Dewett family. Sending much love and prayers for peace in the days ahead.
