John's obituary

John Ira Cosman III, age 56, passed away on April 29, 2025 in Everett, WA.

John was born on November 7, 1968 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He lived in many places due to his, and his father’s, military travels; the place he lived the longest and considered his home was the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He served 10 years in the U.S. Navy, followed by a career in shipbuilding as an electrician. His most recent dream was to become a chef. He lived for the Lord, loved his family more than anything in the world, and always put others before himself. He loved the outdoors, reading, and music. His favorite past times were hiking and singing karaoke with his friends. He was lighthearted and loved keeping things fun and making people laugh.

He is survived by his children, John Ira Cosman IV and Heather (and William) Byrd; his (step) son, Richard (and Angela) Sisk; his grandchildren, Penelope and Jethro Flanagan, John Ira Cosman V, and Winter Byrd; his (step) grandchildren, Harley and Georgia Sisk, Desiree Smith, and Cale and Elizabeth Byrd; his siblings, James Cosman and Julie Gates (Cosman); his father, John Ira Cosman II; as well as a large extended family, including many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Ellen Cosman (Grimm); his paternal grandparents, Ruby Alberta Ramsey and John Ira Cosman; and his maternal grandparents, Ruthe Virginia Grimm (Filby) and Frank Cavet Grimm.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2025 at 4:00pm at 400 Alice Street, Ocean Springs, MS.

John loved food and he believed that eating together with loved ones was important. To honor that, we will have a meal following the memorial service portion of the event.
