John's obituary

John Wayne Collums, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the age of 72.

John was born to parents, Wayne Collums and Lillian Trudeau-Collums, on December 6, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up as the eldest of 5 children and attended Covina High School (California) where he was a nationally ranked Track and Field star. Soon thereafter John joined the Navy and became a specialized submarine diver. In 1972, he married Linda (Fortie) Collums, and together they had their only daughter, Marla. Most of John’s adult years were spent in Colorado where he worked as a Water Systems Operator for the City of Colorado Springs.

John was passionate about rebuilding cars, astronomy, home improvement projects, and breeding & showing his beloved Great Danes. John was an exceptionally loving and dedicated father. He had a great sense of humor, was an incredible listener, and had an uncanny way of putting people at ease. Everyone enjoyed being in his presence. He was an extremely giving man and always willing to help, no matter the task. John will be dearly missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Dorian Enhelder; grandchildren, Karsten and Kinley Enhelder, siblings; Deborah (Sherman) Arnold, Danny (Carolyn) Tyner, and Diane Davis. He is preceded in death by father Wayne Collums, mother Lillian Trudeau-Martin, wife Linda Collums, brother Dale Stocker, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Due to the pandemic, a funeral service will not be held.
