John's obituary
John Cocco, born in Albany NY to John and Arlene Cocco, brother to Terri (Cocco) Pino.
John grew up a wild child, fun and mischief were his middle names. Graduated from North Colonie schools, and Culinary school. He was on a wild and bumpy ride.
His life took a turn when he met his new best friend, Jesus. He was Born again at House of Praise in Schodack. His life was never the same. Men and women in the church loved and mentored him. He soaked in the word and it changed the way he thought and acted. He experienced love in action. Roland Dube took him under his wing, gave him a job and taught him the trade of carpentry.
A couple years later, he met, and married Mary Horan.
They have 4 wonderful children, Joshua, Caleb, Benjamin and Hannah. They also grew a business, Sparklin' Johns Tile Regrouting and Bathroom Restorations. John worked hard, he honed his skills and even taught other men his trade. Johns heart was big.
It brought him joy to help others. Whether it was speaking encouraging words to strangers or people he knew, he was always lending a helping hand. John was very outgoing. He loved being around others, connecting, laughing, and being himself.
In 2009, a car hit his car leaving him injured, and his son Benjamin passed from a separate car/bicycle accident. He lost his passion for his business and was physically unable to do the work. He turned his energy to honor his son Benjamin, with bringing art and music to children. This is were he really shined and his creative side came out. He continued to do art and music with children until his last day. That is what he was doing, joyfully, as he blew his shofar for the last time. An unknown brain aneurysm ruptured.
John lived his life free the way he wanted to, he was true to himself. He was happy, he was always learning, stretching to become the best self he knew how to be. In the last 5 years he had also become a licensed massage therapist. He was too familiar with physical pain and it gave him great satisfaction helping to relieve others of their pain.
John enjoyed cooking, photography, pottery, golfing, biking, kayaking. He was creative with art, music and acting. But, most of all, spending time with good friends and family.
The last few years John was able to do a lot of the things he loved also in Florida, drum circles on the beach and in the woods, swimming and kayaking with the manatees, swimming in the ocean, riding his electric bike discovering the beauty of nature, golfing, teaching life lessons combined with art and music to children. He made more very good friends.
John left behind Mary, Joshua, Caleb, and Hannah. His sister Terri Pino, Aunts and Uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins and many close friends that consider him family.
He will be undeniably missed. His love, smile, laugh, sense of humor, encouraging words and endless ideas and creativity, will leave a deep void.
John is predeceased by his mother and father, John and Arlene Cocco and son Benjamin Cocco. They are now reunited in Heaven.
