John Cauthen Senior was born on September 6, 1939, in Camden, SC, to the late Mattie and John Cauthen. He was the oldest of seven siblings. He was also affectionately known as Brother, Hatchet and Brownie. In his younger years, he attended Sweet Home Baptist Church and Sweet Home School. At 17 years old, he graduated from Jackson High School. At 16 years old, he drove the school bus and worked on his family farm. …
