John's obituary
John Carl Wright, 77, of Yuba City, CA, passed away at his home on December 17, 2025.
John was born on October 13, 1948 to Noble Dean and Doris Elaine Wright in Washington, DC at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. After graduating from Smyrna High School in 1967, he went on to study at Indiana State University for 1 year.
After joining the United States Air Force in 1968 he was subsequently stationed at Beale AFB in Marysville, CA. It was in May of 1970 while stationed there he met Diana Mallory. She introduced him to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in August of 1970 he joined the church. On August 17, 1971 John and Diana were married in the LDS Church's Oakland Temple in Oakland, CA.
John was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of all 3 of his children and Diana, and always tried his best to support them.
John was also a passionate golf fan and could often be found at a nearby driving range or course when he wasn’t at home. He enjoyed watching multiple PGA Tour events during the golf calendar.
Anyone who knew John knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. John was preceded in death by his parents Noble Dean and Doris Elaine in addition to his in-laws Nettie Jean and Harley Donald Mallory. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diana, his son James (Paula) of Gainesville, VA, his son Justin (Brittany) of Rogers, AR, his daughter Jolene Gomez (Catarino Jr) of Yuba City, CA, his grandchildren Danielle, Tayler and Mallory Gomez, as well as AJ and Spencer Wright. He is also survived by his sister Jane, and his brother Jim, both of the Birmingham, AL area.
